Unicorn Gundam

The mythical unicorn was a creature who's powers were only exceeded by its mystery. It was described as having a horse's head and body, the tail of a lion, a goat's beard, and cloven hooves.

This Unicorn, however, was designed by Hajime Katoki.

Snap-built, yet to be primed, painted, and decals to be applied... I haven't worked on this kit again since this pic was taken... its weapons and shield are still on their respective sprues. LOL! So damn busy! Oh well... one of these days (soon, I hope) I'd be able allocate time for its completion.

One more thing, I gotta have those gattling guns!!! Two of 'em!!!

Box-art of Bandai's MG Shin Musha Gundam

Hmmmmm... here's the box art (courtesy of Ngeekhiong) for the soon to be released MG Shin Musha from Bandai:

MG Shin Musha box art

While here's Sandrum's/Anaheim Machines' rendering (published March 29, 2008):

Shin Musha by Sandrum

If one horizontally flips the image on the box of the MG, it is practically the same in pose AND scale as Sandrum's render.

Sandrum states that he ripped the pose of his Shin Musha off of Morishita's black and white illustration. Although I haven't seen Morishita's version of the Shin Musha yet, could it be that Bandai ripped one of 'em images?

Questions, questions, questions...

Infinite Justice Gundam Colors

Ok. I was on the prowl for color translations about the SD Justice Gundam while browsing today. It would sure make a pleasant surprise to my fiancee if I could present to her a painted BB #268 and not just some snap-built wuss. After all, she hand-picked the SD Justice while I was busy inspecting MGs at one of the hobby shops that we frequent during weekends.

Sadly, one of the local Gunpla forums only had color translations for MG kits. As you may know already, the Infinite Justice (nor the Justice) hasn't been rewarded by Bandai with an MG variant... yet. C'mon Bandai!

Anyway, Google kept pointing me to Hobby Search Japan's color reference scan of the 1/100 ∞ Justice manual. Yay. I know much about the mating habits of a Tse-tse fly as I do about reading Kanji.

The genius (or lack of it) in me thought -- "Converting this Justice color guide can't be too hard, all I gotta do is compare!"

After getting a Gunze Sangyo color chart translation, I began comparing the color reference scan's images to the color charts... yadda... yadda... yadda.

Was I successful? I wouldn't be writing about the experience if I wasn't, would I? It was quite fun, actually. So much, fun that I might do other color translations. Now, I know some Kanji... or at least the symbols for the primary colors. LOL!

'Nuff said. Here it is, the translation of the ∞ Justice Gundam for all of us non-Kanji-reading Gunpla lovers out there:

Column 1:
White (40%) + Pink (30%) + Yellow (20%) + Purple (10%)
Yellow (90%) + Orange Yellow (10%)
White (100%)
Red (40%) + Pink (30%) + Purple (30%)
Yellow Green (100%)

Column 2:
Black (60%) + Navy Blue (40%)
White (50%) + Silver (50%)
Neutral Gray (90%) + Black (10%)
Intermediate Blue (40%) + Neutral Gray (30%) + White (20%)
Sky Blue (50%) + White (50%)

The colors were based on Gunze Sangyo products. Tamiya's got most of the colors above, so I don't think that you would have a hard time if you're a Tamiya-lover (like me!)

Don't ask me about what the topcoats are for this translation. In case you haven't read my previous paragraphs, I know crap about Kanji.

By the way, please take my translation with a grain of salt. All I did was compare the symbols. My conversion can be likened to a toddler who's being asked to compare shapes! LOL! So if you've notice errors in my translation above, please do feel free to inform me... kindly.

Kobe Bryant, MVP

Kobe Bryant stepped up on the free throw line 23 times against Utah. Staples was going bananas, chanting --

M-V-P! M-V-P! M-V-P!

What gives?!? A few months back, the crowd in El-Ay were booing Bryant due to trade rumors. Now they're chanting MVPs everytime the guy steps up to the line?

Cute li'l bugger

Building this little fella was a welcome break from painting my NG Exia, snap-fitting my MG Unicorn Gundam, and wondering which among my 3 un-opened MG boxes should be built next.

Custom-painting the Exia was a bit tedious. Finishing the test-fit on the Unicorn is almost over... just a few more hundred parts to go! LOL! Building the SD Strike Gundam Striker Weapon System was like a breath of fresh air.

All I had to do was take the sprues/runners out of the box... cut... then snap. Easy right? That was what I thought so. Until I decided to make this SD Cagalli's suit -- the Strike Rouge.

Here's BB # 259, with his gates un-nipped... as you can clearly see on his feet and shield

And here he is with the gates nipped and sanded

Now, after cleaning up the gates and sanding them, I have to prime it, and paint -- ala-Strike Rouge. Indeed, a breath of fresh air huh?!?

Soon, HE will be a SHE! =D
